White House - A Keswick Guest House

Keswick is situated on the edge of one of the most picturesque lakes in Cumbria. Easily accessible from Scotland or Wales or the south via the M6, or across the A66 for visitors from the North East, Keswick retains it’s charm as a market town in spite of the twenty first century attractions it provides.

Derwentwater by Jim TaylorTwo beautiful parks provide tennis, bowls, pitch and putt, or seating just to enjoy the scenery surrounding and the wonderful flowers and shrubs in the well laid out gardens. Derwentwater is ideal for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, or hiring a boat from the local launch company. You can take the ferry to any of the jetties along the lakeside, stopping off to walk to any of the local beauty spots like Ashness Bridge or the Lodore Falls.

The indoor attractions include a Famous Cars Museum, the Pencil factory, the popular Teapottery where there is a teapot in every guise possible, from a top hat to a teddy!Moot Hall by Jim Taylor

The historic city of Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall are less than an hour’s drive away as is the bracing west Cumbrian coast. The southern lakes, Bowness in Windermere and Grasmere are just a short drive through stunningly beautiful countryside, stop at Ambleside for Rydal Mount, one of Wordsworth’s homes or call at Grasmere where he and his family are buried.

After a busy day why not spend the evening at the Theatre by the Lake, the Cinema or in one of the pubs reflecting on the unspoilt nature of Keswick and Lakeland.
